Basic guide to fitting Fireplaces with Electric fires

Fires2u has complied a basic guide to help customers when installing one of there fireplaces with an electric fire, which includes many handy tips and ideas to install many fireplace suites. Please note read the below carefully and fully before you carry out any installation to see which points relate to your Fireplace suite–

As with any installation preparation is vital. Upon delivery of your electric fireplace check all parts and lay them out on a flat dry service in order of installation.

Firstly lay hearth and check it is level and well supported underneath.

Most surrounds are provided with fixing brackets attach these at the points indicated, with the screws supplied.

When setting legs and fixing to wall always check measurements i.e. the outside leg measurement corresponds with the breast plate and header of surround when presented.

If you have been provided with a three piece back panel it can be put in place without removing either of the legs, if it is a one piece back panel fires2u recommend removing one of the surround legs and place the back panel in position and then put leg surround back in place. Check panel is central and opening corresponds with appliance supplied.

If your surround is supplied with a breast plate, position and secure this now then present and secure the top shelf. If your surround is supplied with a header which sits across and on the legs of the surround, fix and secure with brackets supplied (this part of the installation often requires 2 people to line up and secure in position).

Surround packages that are supplied with a Electric fire usually come with a 75mm rebate, this creates a space to allow installation of the electric fire without having to knock out a hole into the wall it is being fitted too (always check inset depth of electric fire purchased to check that this will be accurate). Fires2u always recommends bringing your power supply to the appliance i.e. a lead with a plug on one end and socket on the other end with a suitable length of cable to plug into your nearest supply and be located at central point of your fire location.
