Electrical Fire Safety Week - Important facts to keep your Electric fire safe

• Don't overload plug sockets
• Regularly check for worn or frayed wires
• Unplug appliances when not in use
• Keep appliances clean and in good working order (see below)
  
• Consider using a Residual Current Device (a device which protects against electric shocks and reduces the risk of electrical fires)
• Keep electric fires away from curtains and furniture and never use them for drying clothes
• If you are having any electrical work done in your home other than simply plugging the fire in to an existing socket, it is now necessary to use an appropriately qualified electrician.
• Easy access must always be available to the electrical supply isolator for the fire whether it is a plug socket or fixed fused spur.
