Eko 1010 electric fire on ITV1's 60 Minute Makeover Show

Today the 60 Minute Makeover team went to Uxbridge, in London to perform a surprise home makeover for Pat.

On top of being a loving mother to her two daughters, Pat cares for her mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s, and her father who is battling cancer. When Pat bought the house with her partner her idea was to make it a dream home but when the relationship broke down her plans were put on hold. Electrical Fire Safety Week - Important facts to keep your Electric fire safe

Installation of electric fires is often as simple as placing it in the room you want it to be fitted in and simply plugging it in! All electric fires we sell at fires2u.com come with instruction manual and each fire may also have special instructions that must be followed when fitting that particular appliance. Wall hanging electric fires or Hole in the wall electric fires will always come with fitting templates and brackets to allow customers to display the fire securely in or on the wall it is being fitted too.

Below is a quick check list for keeping your Electric fire safe during Electric fire safety week (24th January - 30th January 2011) and throughout year!

• Don't overload plug sockets
• Regularly check for worn or frayed wires
• Unplug appliances when not in use
• Keep appliances clean and in good working order (see below)
  
• Consider using a Residual Current Device (a device which protects against electric shocks and reduces the risk of electrical fires)
• Keep electric fires away from curtains and furniture and never use them for drying clothes
• If you are having any electrical work done in your home other than simply plugging the fire in to an existing socket, it is now necessary to use an appropriately qualified electrician.
• Easy access must always be available to the electrical supply isolator for the fire whether it is a plug socket or fixed fused spur.
